Who We Are

Welcome to Pleasantly Beige, a portrait studio creating thoughtful, cinematic photographs for actors, creatives, professionals and families. Founded by photographers Matthew Lloyd and Bethany Clarke, Pleasantly Beige brings together two experienced image-makers.

Matthew Lloyd

Matthew spent many years working in the commercial and editorial world, shooting campaigns for international brands and portrait assignments for newspapers and magazines including The Sunday Times Magazine and The Guardian. His editorial portrait work included regular celebrity commissions for the Los Angeles Times in London. A multiple award-winning photographer, his work has been recognised by honours including the AOP Photography Awards, the Taylor Wessing Portrait Prize and the Picture Editor’s Guild Young Photographer of the Year. His commercial background shaped an approach to lighting that aims to feel natural and cinematic rather than overtly staged.

Bethany Clarke

Bethany began her career as a photojournalist, working on news, feature and portrait assignments for publications including The Daily Telegraph, The Times and Getty Images. That background developed a natural, observational approach to photography, focused on genuine moments and human connection. Alongside her work photographing weddings across the UK and internationally, she brings the same instinct for quiet, expressive portraiture to the studio, creating images that feel honest, relaxed and emotionally natural.

The studio itself is a calm and minimal space shaped by soft light, textured surfaces and carefully considered colour.

Rather than elaborate sets or heavy styling, the environment is designed to keep the focus on people.

We photograph actors who need clean, industry-standard headshots as well as those looking for something more atmospheric or character-led.

We also work with professionals who want portraits that go beyond the typical corporate image.

Whether it is a LinkedIn profile, author portrait or website biography, the aim is always the same: photographs that feel natural, confident and human.

Pleasantly Beige was created for people who want to look like themselves, just on their best day.
