Family and Children

An unhurried session in a calm space

Family sessions are relaxed and unhurried.

You spend around an hour in the studio while we photograph what unfolds. Children are given time to settle into the space while we gently guide the moments we photograph. Parents can be involved as much or as little as they like.

Rather than fitting everyone into a single large group photograph, we focus on smaller interactions and individual portraits.

These combinations tend to produce photographs that feel far more natural and timeless than traditional family portraits.

Sessions work well for children of all ages, including those who are shy or take a little time to settle.

The studio itself is calm and minimal.

Textured plaster walls, hand painted backgrounds and soft natural tones allow the photographs to stay focused on people rather than props or elaborate sets.

By the end of the session we usually have a mixture of quiet individual portraits and small interactions between family members. These in-between moments often become the most meaningful images.

A few days after the shoot you will receive a private online gallery containing a curated selection of the best images from the session.

From there you can choose digital images or have us produce prints and wall pieces for your home.

Rather than producing a single hero image, sessions result in a collection of photographs that work together.

A portrait of a child, a moment between siblings, a small interaction with a parent. These images often work beautifully as a set of prints on the wall, telling a fuller story of a family at a particular moment in time.

The studio is based in Harrogate and welcomes families from across Yorkshire including York, Leeds, Wetherby, Knaresborough and the surrounding areas.
